Change Readiness
Before you launch, find out how ready the organization actually is — and where it needs help.
Aim
The Change Readiness Assessment tool shows an organization how ready they are for the upcoming change, and prompts thinking about which actions to take to make sure they successfully implement the changes.
Results
- A clear picture of where readiness is strong versus where more support is needed.
- Early identification of risks such as low engagement, unclear understanding, or change fatigue.
- Input to inform sequencing, communications, and behaviour reinforcement plans.
- A baseline to measure progress against over time.
Pro Tips
- Don't just assess — act. The value is in how the insights shape planning; make sure the findings directly inform mitigation strategies.
- Look across dimensions. Assess readiness at multiple levels — leadership, teams, functions — to avoid blind spots.
- Combine qualitative and quantitative inputs. Pair surveys or heat maps with interviews or focus groups to get a richer view.
- Dig into the "why". When pockets of low readiness emerge, explore the root causes — don't assume resistance without understanding what's behind it.
- Revisit at key milestones. Readiness evolves; reassessing before activation and during rollout helps maintain momentum.
How to use it
- For each statement, determine if it's "true", "somewhat true" or "not true".
- If you select "not true" or "somewhat true", discuss any issues.
- When you've answered each statement, add up the scores to determine a category average.
- The category average informs the level of focus and action you need to take in that area. If the score is less than 2.3, create an action plan: identify the actions required to increase the readiness scores, decide which one or two areas you'll prioritise first, and identify the person responsible and the due date.
- Consider repeating the assessment with different groups of people.
