Role Profiles
A structure only works if the jobs inside it do. This tool sets out what each new or changed role is accountable for.
Aim
This tool is used to describe the reporting relationships, linkages, responsibilities, performance metrics, and competencies required of the new and changed roles (jobs).
Results
- A Role Profile that summarises the design of a new or changed role.
What good looks like
- All roles changing more than 30% are accounted for, and a profile is completed for each.
- Information from the different areas of design is captured on the role profile.
- Good jobs are designed to motivate and meet the human needs of those filling them, and to score highly on skill variety, task identity, task significance, autonomy, feedback from the job, and feasibility.
- Good leadership roles provide opportunities for acquiring experience, knowledge and competencies, and clearly specify leadership competencies, functional accountabilities, and "leadership" team responsibilities.
- With all this in mind, use the Role Profile template to clearly lay out the qualities and requirements of the role.
